Phew, it has been a while since I last updated the blog. If you have followed the “Places” section on the website, you will have noticed there has been a growth in places where events of the convention will take place. Things are definitely moveing on that front. We have also finished the first fundraiser, and although it wa not as successful as we would have hoped, we raised enough money to get some things done.
The feedback from all across Europe has been amazing and I have also travelled a fair bit to promote the convention. Surprisingly, or unsurprisingly, come to think of it, we have also had contact with people outside Europe who want to paricipate, so this could actually turn into a world-wide event.
Right now I am in the middle of checking the æthernet-situation in Luxembourg, as soon as this is cleared, we can start steaming in big quivering letters.
Also some big news: The soundtrack of the convention is in pre-production, I had a phone-confrerence with Alex White of The Gearheart yesterday, regardin the matter. Very exciting!
And before I forget: The Facebook Page is updated far more frequently than this blog, so if you want to be on the pulse of the European Steampunk Convention, go there first.
The poster will soon see action at the Cave-Con in Aschaffenburg, which will take place from 16th-18th of March 2012. We hope to spread the word far and wide. We are doing it online and in the real world!
It has been a while since the last update and a lot has happened:
The site will get a comlete redesign, the first drafts have already been presented and we are impressed.
I am also happy to announce there has been an influx of interest from Sweden and as of this week, we are in touch with people in Prague who will see what they can do.
The Air Kraken willing, the video should be complete by tomorrow and the IndiGoGo fundraiser will be up within the next days.
We have started producing a video to promote the convention. There will be several versions, one will go up on IndieGoGo, others will simply be shared in the blogosphere.
Material for the videos has been donated by several steampunk groups across Europe, for which we are really greatful.
The first promotional flyers and posters have also been printed, we have a limited supply but can relatively easily produce more. If you are interested in helping spreading the word in the offline world, drop us a line, we will get stuff to you.
Depending on how big the budget will be in the end, there is also a possibility of the European Steampunk Convention getting its very own soundtrack.
The logo development is speeding up, here is the second draft and it is nearing completion. The logo has been put up for discussion on the Facebook Page and thus far, only minor alterations have been suggested.
I guess the official logo will be finished pretty soon.
Unless some new suggestions are coming in, the date for the EuroSteam Convention will be decided on within the next week or so. As it apears now, it will most likely be somewhen between mid August and beginning of September 2012.
Our Austrian friends have also come foreward with a logo design, check it out (nothing official yet, just a first suggestion):
Feedback is coming in from all over Europe. This is happening faster than we thought but it makes for quicker planing, too. As you can see on the main site, people from literally all over Europe have already æthermailed in or contacted us via Facebook. Also, I am happy to announce two illustrious Bands have signaled their interest in participating:
Welcome to the official EuroSteamCon blog. Here you will find news on the latest developments, behind the scenes infos and who knows what else. Check back as (in)frequently as you like!
